Our Spotlight Athlete of the month of February is Kim! She is one of my OG’s and has been with us since March 2019 but truly have had the privilege of coaching her for years even prior to that. She shows us through her daily actions that consistent hard work over a long period of time is what crushes goals! She’s always encouraging and supportive of her fellow athletes and you will rarely see her without her trademark smile! She’s an inspiration for anyone who’s been wondering if the CrossFit methodology is for everyone. We asked Kim a few questions about her time here with us. Check out what she said below.
1 - Tell us about you.
I’m a long time CrossFit junkie. I love the outdoors and plan most of my travel around being outside. Some of my favorite adventures have included climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, hiking in Yellowstone and most recently, camping in Antarctica!
2 - What brought you to CrossFit 3 Strands?
Coach Blyth! I love her positive spirit and desire to make 3Strands an inclusive gym for every member. I also love the flexibility to change it up if my body isn’t feeling a particular movement or is recovering from another workout. Not all gyms offer this and Blyth is always accommodating and encourages us to listen to what our bodies are telling us.
3 - What would you tell someone who is thinking about trying CrossFit?
Don’t hesitate! CrossFit truly is for everyone! Every movement is scalable. You’ll become addicted to pushing yourself to the next level and you’ll be so proud of what your body can accomplish. I’ve converted many friends to the CrossFit life and none have been disappointed yet. Come try it out!!
4 - What is the one thing that you like about CrossFit 3 Strands?
This community. They are hands down the absolute best people! Whether they are cheering you through your first workout, or encouraging you to crush a PR this community will always have your back! My 5am crew gets me up in the morning. They keep me accountable and excited to show up and workout. Love you guys!!
5 - What are your future fitness goals?
To be healthy and fit. I want to keep hiking, climbing mountains and traveling the world so I’ll keep showing up to do the work and make sure I’m prepared for my future adventures!
